From John Retallick: Our confirmed guest for next weeks inaugural program for the now ongoing and regular TheComicSpot is non other than Melbourne comicker extraordinaire Mandy Ord.

Mandy will join myself, Jo Waite and Bernard Caleo in the studio ‘LIVE’.

We’ll be discussing her latest longform work ‘Rooftops‘, as well as some of her other material methods and madness.

Talk at the National Library of Scotland

Talk/Panel Session: ‘In conversation with metaphrog‘.

Chaired by Lisa Otty, Graduate School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh.

When: Wednesday April 23rd at 7pm.

Where: National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EW.

Free admission but please book in advance.

Held in conjuction with the exhibition Local Heroes – The Art of the Graphic Novel (the National Library of Scotland, April 4th until June 1st 2008).

Other talks include Alan Grant and Cam Kennedy, Frank Quitely, Gary Erskine, David Donaldson, and Dr Mel Gibson will also be doing talks, while curator John Birch will give a guided tour of the exhibition.

Hi, Week 2 of Comic Book Funny was really well attended, so thanks very very much to all who dropped by. There’s still two more Comic Book Funny sessions to attend, and this week’s is going to be very special, featuring, as it does: CLINT CURE (Wang, Scam, Yanky Duck) NEALE BLANDEN (Bland, Sick Puppy, Graphic Classics: Bram Stoker) BERNARD CALEO (Tango, The False Impressionists) As 3RRR listeners found out yesterday, Bernard will be presenting his live, drawn response to No Country For Old Men, whatever the hell that means (I have no idea but am expecting fun). Clint and Neale will talk animation as compared to comics, and we’ll look at Clint’s film THE LECTURE, which won Best Film at the Comedy Channel Short Film Festival last year.
