[From David Blumenstein]
Hi, Week 2 of Comic Book Funny was really well attended, so thanks very very much to all who dropped by. Ben, Glenn and Ross had a good time and hopefully you did too. http://nakedfella.com/blog/?p=53 But this is no time to waver! There’s still two more Comic Book Funny sessions to attend, and this week’s is going to be very special, featuring, as it does: CLINT CURE (Wang, Scam, Yanky Duck) NEALE BLANDEN (Bland, Sick Puppy, Graphic Classics: Bram Stoker) BERNARD CALEO (Tango, The False Impressionists) As 3RRR listeners found out yesterday, Bernard will be presenting his live, drawn response to No Country For Old Men, whatever the hell that means (I have no idea but am expecting fun). Clint and Neale will talk animation as compared to comics, and we’ll look at Clint’s film THE LECTURE, which won Best Film at the Comedy Channel Short Film Festival last year. Saturday 5th April, 4-5pm Trades Hall, cnr Lygon St & Victoria Pde The Bella Union Bar (1st floor) This is a free event presented by Nakedfella Productions, Comedy @ Trades and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. See ya David — PS: my music video for the Bedroom Philosopher’s single THE HAPPIEST BOY is in the running for the Best Music Video IF Award alongside more cashed up, less cartoony efforts by Evermore, Sarah Blasko, Rogue Traders, etc. If you’ve got a minute to pop over to: http://www.ifawards.com/Vote/Film_List.aspx?act=type&typeid=6 … you can register as a member on their site (I know, it’s a pain) by picking Login to Vote, then Register Here, and then rate it what you think it’s worth. I’d appreciate it.

Since January first, 2008, a hostile tender offer is launched on Institut Pacôme . The whole of the team tries since to be contained, and hopes well to leave victorious this combat, thanks in particular to the tenacity of our expensive and rigid owner, Large Professor Pacôme, glory with him.
Armed with rifles and other guns with mushrooms of its invention, it hopes well to resist to the end, and us other authors – bound by blood to its person let us be well obliged to follow it in its resistance…
A tender offer on an association has surprised us, but we learned with our great stupor that the treaty of Lisbon (new European treaty approved without referendum) had registered black on white this possibility: to leave free course with competition, it will be from now on possible that a company can practise a tender offer on any other structure having an unspecified commercial goal (association, church, etc)
Yours sincerely, and soon of the news of our dear beautiful quite famous Institut! Sylvain-Moizie, Aide of famous Professor Pacôme
Bonjour,
Sylvain-Moizie

BEN HUTCHINGS AND DAVID BLUMENSTEIN

In this episode, we are sex-obsessed. We talk about the comics in free youth magazine STREETWIZE and how its spin-off, GAOLWIZE, helped inmates get laid safely, we discuss the least erotic comic book ever made in Australia and even many of Ben’s Tootleg Boy music tracks are about sex. Sexy!
Also, we plug our own stuff again, touch on the giant “Life: Be In It!” ball and classic Aussie cartoonists, there’s plenty of swearing and David impugns the reputation of a dead cartoonist. Plus an exclusive interview with William Shatner!

From Ben Hutchings:
I did a series of coins for the Royal Australian Mint!
There will be 6 coins in all, each with a different character. This is Binny Bilby.
(The koala coin image isn’t quite how I drew it just in case you were wondering)
