Pounding the Pavement for Prahok

[This is pretty much a blatant re-post but good news deserves spreading.] Kalabird will be running a marathon in early October, and is dedicating her efforts to the nonprofit Friends. Running a 26 miles is no easy task; I’d be a little intimidated given the historical precedent it’s named after. In addition to running, running, and running some [...]

Oh My Jesus

Tuesday’s Cambodia Daily (p. 29)* notes outrage in Battambang: someone opened a bar/hotel with ‘Buddha’ as part of the name. (Click for larger version.) In Paris, no one would bat an eye: ‘Buddha Bar’ has existed for some time. This comic was originally drawn in 2003; it’s one of several older cartoons I’m getting colored for [...]

BarCamp Phnom Penh: September 20

I’d be remiss, not to take  note of this: BarCamp Phnom Penh, a day-long gathering for computer enthusiasts, is coming… all cloggers, you are invited. What’s BarCamp Phnom Penh? To recap, here is some basic information about the gathering: Where: Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC), Multi-Purpose Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia When: September 20, 2008. From 9am - 5pm. Who should attend: computer enthusiasts, technologists, [...]

Temple In The Sky

I envy Geoffrey and Kounila for their chance to go to Preah Vihear.  It’s a stunning setting, and I hope to visit again when things have calmed down. While some may believe it’s challenging to enter from the Cambodian side, it’s do-able if you think of it more as a road trip than a day outing. [...]

Okay, okay, I've been fairly slack with writing about comics because I've been pretty busy drawing them! I hope none of you will fault me. Met up with Toby Morris (some sample art below) at Hurley's Cantina a little over a week ago.… Continue

Yessss

I have added linky links to the right hand sidebar and it feels good...
Those dern Google ads are the price we pay for having all these bells and whistles. If I pay $20 a month I can remove them... 'Hasbro action figures' or 'Transformers' merch are not exactly what this site is about...

The main 'front page' blog has been shifted over to http://blog.comicslifestyle.com. (Thanks to my Lao - based webwonk pal for sorting this!)

Hi John - looking forward to delving into CL a bit more and exploring the works of the creators here. So many comics and so little time to read them and talk about them and tell the world about them.
Melbourne is really lovely bubbling scene at the moment and i'm hoping to chip in my 2 bits to keeping it that way and seeing it grow a bit more.

Hi John,
Yeah, the plagiarism thing is pretty crazy. I am not sure what to think about it at all. I know this is a little retarded, but there is some small part of me that gets a kick out of being in a book with such talented people.

Hey, John,

Candy or Medicine has a rolling, open submission policy. Basically anyone can submit, granted they follow the guidelines outlined on the Web site, and I'll publish them on a first come, first served basis.

Thanks,

Josh

Thanks, John, and yes they are...
I'd love to set up a regional group, but I'm in a "dry" area I think. Great place thought! I keep trying to rake them in.
